Sundance gets in 'Position'

'First Position'Sundance Selects has snagged North American rights to "First Position," the ballet doc that preemed at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival earlier this fall. Written, directed and produced by Bess Kargman, "Position" centers on six young dancers from around the globe competing for scholarships and jobs in the Youth America Grand Prix, a prestigious bunhead competish. Film will continue to make the rounds on the festival circuit this fall, including screenings at Vancouver, the Hamptons and DOC NYC. North American distribution pact for "First Position" was negotiated by Arianna Bocco and Betsy Rodgers of Sundance Selects with Submarine's Josh Braun and attorney Marc H. Simon. Movie also was picked up by Hopscoth for Australia and New Zealand. Sundance Selects is a sister division of IFC Films and its genre banner IFC Midnight, all three of which release films on multiple platforms including VOD and theatrical.
